Beginning in August 2016, future Destiny game updates and content releases will only be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles will be considered Legacy Consoles and will no longer receive major updates and content releases.
Destiny: The Taken King will continue to be available on the Legacy Consoles, however players will have limited access to some Destiny Events. Please see below for a detailed list of Destiny Events and Activities and their availability on Legacy Consoles.
Destiny Events and Activities that will still be available on Legacy Consoles
Heroic Missions and Strikes
The Daily Heroic Mission, Weekly Heroic Strikes, and Nightfall Strike will still be available on Legacy Consoles and will continue to grant rewards as described in the Weekly Lockout guide.
Daily and Weekly Crucible Challenges
The Daily and Weekly Crucible Featured Playlists will still be available on Legacy Consoles, as will the Weekly Crucible Bounties. They will continue to grant rewards as described in the Weekly Lockout guide.
Raids and Boss Challenges
The Vault of Glass, Crota's End, King's Fall, and weekly King's Fall Boss Challenges will still be available on the Legacy Consoles. They will continue to grant rewards as described in the Weekly Lockout guide.
Prison of Elders and Challenge of Elders
The Level 28, 32, 34, 35, and 41 Prison of Elders Arenas will still be available on the Legacy Consoles, as will the Level 42 Challenge of the Elders Arena. They will continue to grant rewards as described in the Weekly Lockout guide.
Armsday Orders and Test Weapons
Armsday Orders and Test Weapons from the Gunsmith will still be available on Legacy Consoles. For more information, please see our Armsday guide.
Xûr, Agent of the Nine
Xûr will continue to appear in the Tower or the Reef on Legacy Consoles. The following changes will be made to Xûr's inventory on Legacy Consoles:
Individual Exotic Weapons and Armor pieces will no longer be sold by Xûr.
Encrypted Exotic Engrams will be sold. These will decrypt into Year 2 Exotics.
Encrypted Legacy Engrams will continue to be sold. These will decrypt into Year 1 Exotics.
Heavy Ammo Synthesis, Three of Coins, Vehicle Upgrades, Motes of Light, and Glass Needles will continue to be sold.
Destiny Events that will no longer be available on Legacy Consoles
Trials of Osiris
The Trials of Osiris weekly Crucible event will no longer be available on Legacy Consoles beginning in August 2016. For more information on this event, please see our Trials of Osiris guide. To access Trials of Osiris after August 2016, Legacy Console players will need to upgrade from their Legacy Console and purchase Destiny: Rise of Iron once it is released.
Iron Banner
The Iron Banner Crucible event will no longer be available on Legacy Consoles beginning in August 2016. For more information on this event, please see our Iron Banner guide. To access Iron Banner after August 2016, Legacy Console players will need to upgrade from their Legacy Console and purchase Destiny: Rise of Iron once it is released.
Live Events
Legacy Consoles will not have access to any Live Events beginning in August 2016. Live Events are limited-time Destiny event that can include specific playlists, Quests, Bounties, or Rewards. Examples of previous Live Events are the Festival of the Lost, Crimson Days, or the Sparrow Racing League. To access Live Events after August 2016, Legacy Console players will need to upgrade from their Legacy Console and purchase Destiny: Rise of Iron once it is released.
Destiny: Rise of Iron will not be available on Legacy Consoles
All updates, content, and events related to Destiny: Rise of Iron will be unavailable on Legacy Consoles. To access Destiny: Rise of Iron, Legacy Console players will need to upgrade from their Legacy Console and purchase Destiny: Rise of Iron once it is released.
