Being stuck in a hotel and wanting to play Destiny can sometimes be an issue. The biggest issue you run into is trying to connect your Xbox to the Hotels internet. Most Hotels require a log in to access their network so here are a few ways to fix your issues:
Travel Router
Bring your own router if the hotel has ethernet. Any old one will do because all you are going to do is hardwire your Xbox and PC to it anyways. Use your PC for the login info and you should be good to go! (I use an old router that has the same login information as my current one so I don't have to change wifi connections on my devices when connecting to it)
Alternate MAC ID
- Simply login with a computer.
- Start -> Run > Type "cmd". This will bring up your command prompt. (You can also Hold the Windows button on a keyboard and press "r" to open your run window and then type "cmd")
- Type "ipconfig /all" and write down your Physical Address. This is your computers MAC address.
- On your Xbox go to:
- Settings -> Network -> Advanced Settings -> Alternate MAC address.
- Type in whatever MAC address that your computer had.
- Restart the console
- Unplug internet from computer and plug into Xbox. Since they have the same MAC address now, the White List portion of the internet security will view your Xbox as your computer who has already been approved.
- Also you can use the MAC ID from your phone or tablet (google how to find it)
Logging Xbox into Hotel Connection
- This requires a phone that can hotspot.
- Hot spot your phone and connect your xbox to it.
- Open the browser on the Xbox and go to any site with links in it.
- Disconnect Xbox from phone and connect via hotel connection.
- Go to the browser that was previously opened and click a link. This will go to the hotels wifi login page and then you are good to go!
